FIFTY…. ridiculous that i got the goal a little past the halfway mark of the year. i definitely wanted this one to be my fiftieth (that looks weird, so i’ll just write 50th).

ahh… san miguel — the beer of choice for the filipino. i remember family parties (when i was a wee one) where uncles would drink this stuff… that was when i thought beer was gross (so maybe when i was like 18 or so)… the commercials on the filipino channels were awesome too — i couldn’t find the one i was looking for, but i saw these on youtube and they’re just as awesome:

SABADO, SABADO, SABADO — this is my jam before i roll out on saturdays — make it yours too:

and the obligatory pacman spot:

anyways… it’s a really smooth lager (american adjunct lager — you’ll notice this is a pretty popular type)… it’s light just like the rest of ’em…with minor flavors of grains

you might be thinking, “damn, joe… what an anti-climactic drink to achieve your goal on”

i say, “nay”

it’s kinda cool that it all came full circle around the world back to the philippines… aww

but don’t take my word for it, take it away, zane! (awesome — it’s a still image of balut! don’t click that if you’re squeamish!!!!)

oh those american adjunct lagers… they’re sooo run of the mill and this one is no exception…

sure it was made in the same country as my favorite national soccer team (one of ’em at least), but this one was “ho hum”… no need to go further with this one i guess… you get the point

i do remember that juan and andy brought this over when we watched pacquiao put the beat down on cotto… it was supposed to be a filipino beer (san mig) and a puerto rican beer, but apparently, those aren’t easily found at your local bevmo… so argentina was thrown in as a substitute… it’s all the same tho — all brown right? (that’s racist)

drank this on the heels of the aforementioned club colombia — had a slightly differing taste. and by that i mean it didn’t really taste like anything.

juan mentioned that colombians don’t really have a taste for dark beers so this is the best they’ve got… there’s the phrase about not saying anything if you don’t have anything nice to say right? so i’ll let this dood on beer advocate say it:

“This is one of the blandest, most lifeless lagers I’ve tasted. That said, it doesn’t taste bad. It just tastes like club soda with a splash of beer.”

ehhh… i’ll have to agree…

HOWEVER, that’s not saying that the effort to get the beer to me is overlooked… lawlz… i appreciate it, juan — congratulations, you have your flag in the beer list AND you’re pregnant!

thanks to juan for this beer… straight from mexico… err colombia — same thing i guess, right?

all to get his country’s flag into my modest list! he had to fool the TSA by turning this (and another can) into a suppository… yea… i totally drank outta the can!

so let’s see — at first sip, i KNEW it was similar to a bud light/coors light type… and i was effin’ right (american adjunct lager)! i dunno if that’s a testament to my taste buds, or the fact that i drank so much of that during the july 4th weekend (ughhhh).

tho, i will give it credit — it was a lot SMOOTHER than BL/CL imho… those other beers have a weird harshness to it that makes it lack drinkability.

i can totally see myself drinking too much of these and fuckin’ myself up… good stuff!

i grade it a B (yes, partly because of the length of personal travel from point of origin to my belly)

i said i’d never give a beer an “F” grade, but this came damn close…

thanks to dave, i tried one of these bastards… here’s a message to mexico, “stick to something you’re good at… like poverty or swine flu”

that was mean… this guy’s a prick – a la jim gaffigan

kinda interesting that this was my first mexican beer… i woulda thought that corona or the beer favored by the most interesting man in the world

it’s funny reading the different reviews on tecate on BA — almost as funny as people reviewing natty ice or steel reserve (or whatever you white people drink)

the last time i checked, this was classified as a beer…

feels weird to add this one to the log, but it counts — what a crizzap beer. my neck turned red while i drank this, which was pretty crazy to watch

i love how people on beeradvocate tried to give this a real review — i’m not even gonna give it any satisfaction.

a beer has to have a rat tail or thumb in it to get an F grade from me, luckily for bud, no tails… so it gets a D
